Summer Motion entertainment lineup announced

Officials with Summer Motion have announced the entertainment lineup for the festival. The national acts represent a broad range of musical styles and offer a variety that will appeal to all tastes.

As in 2009, the entertainment this year will be centered in Ashland Central Park. Entertainment kicks off Wednesday, June 30, with Little Texas opening for headliners Chris Cagle. Little Texas had eight top 10 country hits in the 1990s including the number one “My Love.” Cagle is a country music star with several gold albums and 12 charting singles including the number one “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out.”

The Thursday, July 1,0. performance will be an evening of retro rock with a band comprised of original members of The Moody Blues, Wings, The Outsiders, The Buckinghams, Badfinger, Otis Day and the Knights, Climax, The Hollies and The Swinging Blue Jeans. The six original artists come from 10 bands that had 30 combined hit songs. Opening will be Cannibal and the Headhunters, known for the enduring sixties hit “Land of a Thousand Dances.”

Eddie Money headlines Friday, July 2. Money had a string of hits and platinum albums in the 1970s and 80s including such songs as “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Baby Hold On,” “Shakin,” “Take Me Home Tonight” and “I Wanna Go Back.” Opening for Money is up-and-coming country act broadBAND.

Music moves to the bandstand at Ashland Central Park on Saturday, July 3.

Performances from local acts during the day will lead to a featured performance from The Crystals, a defining act of the 1960’s “girl group” era. The Crystals’ hits included “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Uptown,” “He’s A Rebel” and “Then He Kissed Me.”
