GALLIPOLIS — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers wanted a good, tough week and that’s what they got.

That’s also what they gave.

The Lady Panthers faced their third quality team of the week and came away with a 3-2 win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels behind the five-hit pitching of Allison Chapman.

‘This is the third good team we’ve played this week and the girls came out and played pretty well,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.

Chesapeake tied Ashland, Ky., 1-1 in 13 innings on Monday and beat Cabell Midland (W.Va.) 6-5 on Tuesday.

Chapman struck out six and walk four in going the distance.

The Lady Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

Chapman had a lead off double, Casey Kirk singled and Sarah Mayo doubled for a run. Kirk was thrown out trying to score. But Sidney Boyle singled to drive in Mayo.

Gallipolis tied the game in the fourth inning.

Hannah Cunningham and Courtney Shriver singled and Morgan Leslie walked to load the bases. Alli Saunders then delivered a two-run single.

Chesapeake got the winning run in the sixth when Boyle walked, Courtney Heffner put down a sacrifice bunt and a throwing error sent Boyle to third.

With runners on the corner, Myky Harmon hit a sacrifice fly to score Boyle.

Chesapeake (14-7) hosts River Valley Friday in a doubleheader.
