FLATWOODS, Ky. — The Lady Vikings were more like the Musketeers. It was all for one cause and one cause for all.

The Symmes Valley lady Vikings used a strong team effort to beat the Russell Lady Red Devils 8-1 Thursday.

Symmes Valley had 12 hits and Nikki Nance pitched a six-hitter as they improved to 21-3.

“It was a total team effort. Everybody but one person in the lineup had a hit. Nikki Nance did a whale of a job keeping them off-balance with her change-up,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

The Lady Vikings’ Jessie Morris singled to start the game, Nance was safe on a fielder’s choice, and after a wild pitch Brooke Skinner singled them home.

The lead went to 4-0 in the third.

Nance and Chelsea Wall singled, Erica Corn grounded out as both runners moved up. Kayla Ross reached on an error for a run and Brittany Foster singled in the second run.

Symmes Valley put the game away with four runs in the seventh.

Nance was safe on an error, stole second and scored on Wall’s double.

Ross singled home Wall. Foster singled and Keathley followed with a two-run single. Foster came home when Ada Humphrey reached on an error.

Wall was 2-3, Foster and Keathley 2-4 and Morris 2-5.

Symmes Valley plays at Gahanna Lincoln on Saturday. The Lady Vikings host Portsmouth Clay on Tuesday.
