Federal officials are tight-lipped about an operation conducted at a residence Tuesday in the 2400 block of South Fifth Street.

Khaalid Walls, public affairs officer for U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, confirmed that, “a search warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation.” He declined further comment.

Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey said federal officials have provided him little information.

“I was notified they would be doing an operation there,” Carey said.

Agents involved in the operation declined comment. A woman at the location told reporters, “We don’t want anything in the newspapers.”

She told a Tribune photographer not to take her photograph but declined to identify herself.
