Two local women were arrested last week after deputies responded to what started as a fight call but became a medical and drug incident.

Nicole L. Bailey, 24, of 25 Private Drive 2151, South Point, and Sabrina D. Holley, 27, Huntington, W.Va., were each charged with domestic violence, disorderly conduct and possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies were called to Bailey’s residence after the two women got into a fight. While there, a 4-year-old boy at the residence stopped breathing and when deputies inquired about his health, they were told the child had swallowed a quantity of pills.

Deputies were told the child had spat out the pills and a poison control center had been called but that the child had not been taken to a doctor.

The child was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., for treatment. Information on his condition was not immediately available.

In his report, Deputy Jason Newman said while he was looking through the home trying to find the bottle that contained the pills the child had swallowed, he found “several pieces of drug paraphernalia in plain view.”

Newman said both women voluntarily admitted to snorting pills and smoking marijuana and had even admitted they had been involved in the theft of air conditioners from area churches.

Both women were arraigned Friday in Lawrence County Municipal Court. Both must return May 21 for a preliminary hearing.
