The Elkins Creek Horse Camp and Tack Shop wants you to trot on over for a horse show and camp out.

Owner Rick McCleese will host the event Saturday at 4 p.m. The festivities will last until dark. There will be 50 to 75 horses joining in the day’s events.

“We’re expecting people from all over to camp this weekend,” said McCleese.

There are some horses to rent but mostly people are going to bring their own.

This is the first camping season the Elkins Creek Horse Camp has had.

Last year, the camp held its first Extreme Cowboy Challenge. The challenge allows riders to show off their horses as well as their riding skills. The camp will have another challenge July 23-24.

The horse show and camp out is just going to be a fun event, assured McCleese.

Some of the events will include the lead line, halter class, drunkard’s paradise, ride a buck, favorite gait and many more.

There will also be events for the children: sack races, apple bobbing, walk-trot and favorite gait.

Food vendors will be on site as well as bathrooms and showering facilities.
