SOUTH POINT — South Point High School’s Class of 2010 has left its mark.

At 2 p.m. on May 30 in the South Point High School gymnasium, the students displayed their own creativity while marching down the aisle.

This year’s class designed their own gowns for graduation. Principal John Maynard said that the class of 144 seniors chose the emblem from a 1957 South Point High yearbook.

“It’s going to be a nice mark on the school,” said Maynard.

The rediscovered shield will continue to be used because it adds character and class, Maynard also said.

The 144 seniors also left another mark. Every single graduating student was accepted to a university or secondary program, according to Maynard.

Graduating senior Amy Lien said she will be attending The University of Rio Grande on a soccer scholarship.

“I’m sad but excited,” she said, “and ready.”

Proud mother of Chris Christian, Pam, said, “I’m very sad my baby’s graduating.”
