James Edward “Jimmy” “Tire Man” Brooks; 63 of Ironton, died Friday May 28, 2010, in a Columbus medical center.
He was the son of the late Ruby Whitt and the late Claude Brooks. He had several businesses during his life doing tire repair. He was a Vietnam veteran.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother, Hazel Brooks.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Jane Brooks; a son, John Edward Brooks and his wife Shelly of Coal Grove; a daughter; Melissa Sue James of Hanging Rock; three brothers, Jason Mobly and Clinton Dee Brooks, both of Ironton, and Jerry L. and Becky Brooks of Hanging Rock; and a sister, Claudette Bowling of Ironton; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow with military graveside rites in the Hanging Rock Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
