COLUMBUS — First there was a false start. Then came a false runner.

A false start in the 100-meter hurdles at Saturday’s Div. II state track meet didn’t bother Fairland Lady Dragons’ Jordan Aldridge.

But her performance did.

Aldridge came away with a seventh place finish, but she wasn’t happy with the 15.54 time she posted.

“I’m disappointed. I ran a bad race,” said Aldridge.

While Aldridge was unhappy because she didn’t live up to her own expectations, she still came away with an exclamation point to a solid career.

“Overall it was good,” said Aldridge. “I made the state meet three times and I was in the top eight (places) two times. That’s fine with me.”

Chelsea Scott of Columbus Bishop Hartley had the false start but it didn’t slow down JeRica Sanders of Mentor Lake Catholic who won the event with a 14.29 clocking.

Aldridge said competing at the state level didn’t bother her or make her nervous.

“I never see this much competition until I get to the state meet, not even in the regionals. I’d rather run against this kind of competition,” said Aldridge who plans to attend Marshall and run hurdles for the Herd track team.
