If you have ever been interested in antique farm equipment or are just looking for something to do June 18-19, consider penciling in some plans to go to the Ironton Hills Plaza for the 12th Annual Lawrence County Ironmasters Antique Show.

The antique show will be from around 8 a.m. until late at night June 18 and June 19 at the shopping plaza near State Route 93 and U.S. 52 in Ironton.

The show will feature antique tractors, farm equipment and engines from the late 1800s through 1900s and is open to anyone. Admission is free.

“It’s for all age groups, young and old,” said Lee Nance, of Ironton, who is one of the founders of the antique show. “The older ones can associate with the stuff we have. The younger ones are curious about how things were done then. They ask a lot of questions.”

There will be displays on both Friday and Saturday, with special events occurring on Saturday, including a tractor parade at 11 a.m. and a “kiddy pedal tractor pull” at 2 p.m. There will be games in the afternoon on Saturday.

“It’s a family-type show, with no alcohol,” Nance said.

Nance said the children usually like to ride around on the tractors.

While the event promises to be child-friendly, Nance said the adults have just as much fun as the children.

“It’s like a bunch of kids with toys,” Nance said about the adult exhibitors.

Nance said the exhibitors start coming in on Thursday to set up and that a lot of them are from out of town.

The event has an average of 60 to 70 tractors or engines, and Nance said the antique exhibit is similar to shows that automobile clubs put on.

“We fix it up and show it, kind of like a car show,” Nance said.

Nance said they are happy to have exhibitors and there is still time to get your antique farm equipment in the show. There is no charge to put an item in the show.

“If they’ve got something they want to bring that’s farm-related, antique tractors, engines or farm equipment – we want people involved,” Nance said.
