SOUTH POINT — South Point-based BB’s Car Club will make a donation to the Veteran’s Home in Barboursville, W.Va., next week.

The organization is donating items that veterans can use in their every day lives.

“Many times the veterans in the veterans’ home are forgotten. They have given the ultimate sacrifice in the past and should be remembered,” said Tom Hayner, president of BB’s Car Club. “So as a club we set out to collect items that they can use in their everyday life to make things a little easier.”

BB’s Car Club’s members have been collecting items for the past two months that the veterans can use. Many people throughout the Tri-State have joined in making donations to the car club to make this a successful drive.

Mayor Paul Turman of Barboursville and various veterans’ organizations have contacted the club to join in on the festivities as the car club makes their donations.

“You can never collect too many items to help out. There are 100 men and one woman veteran who resides at the veterans’ home. So every item will be useful,” said Hayner.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of any new personal items, or to make a cash donation for the club to purchase items at discount prices, can contact Tom Hayner at (304) 208-5026 or Jim Hayner at (606) 922-6647.

Donations may also be mailed to BB’s Car Club, P.O. Box 119, South Point OH 45680. Club officials can also tell those interested which items are needed the most.

“Our July Cruz In at the Kyova Mall in Ashland, Ky. will have our July theme of ‘Salute to America’.  This show is dedicated to our military and the veterans,”  Haney said. “There will be flags from all branches of the service displayed and cars will be decorated in American flags. This has proven to be one of the most appreciated shows that we do.”
