COAL GROVE — Donna Faye Boggs Shope, 71, of Coal Grove, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Lawrence County native was born July 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Emory Boggs and Rosetta Ackison Boggs Morrison. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Shope Jr., who died in 2001.
Mrs. Shope was 1957 graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former employee of Cabletron and Bryant’s Nursing Home. She was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her stepfather, who raised her, Paul Morrison; a brother, Paul Boggs; and a sister, Carol Miller.
She is survived by a son, Donald “Gene” Shope and Wendy of Marion; a daughter, Becky Bryant of Frankfort, Ky. and her companion, Charles Roach; four sisters, Paula McFann and Denver of Pedro, Eva Judd of Ironton, Ruby McCormick and Odis of Galivants Ferry, S.C. and Carla Holtzapfel of Ironton; a grandson whom she raised, Andy Bryant; three other grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glen Carmon officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
