Ironton teen Cecili Weber took home the crown at the Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen Pageant on June 15.

Her platform, Helping-Expressing-Achieving-Reaching-Teaching In The Arts (H.E.A.R.T.), as well as her superb interviewing skills, helped to seal her victory and send her to the next round.

Weber attends St. Joseph High School and will be a sophomore in the fall.

In August, she will head to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

“I’m a little overwhelmed,” said Weber. “But it’s also amazing.”

Weber won a $1,000 scholarship for college for winning the overall competition, as well as a $150 prize for winning the interview award.

Weber was in competition with 14 other girls from across Ohio. Each teen was judged on evening gown wear, sports and fitness wear, talent, closed interview and on-stage interview.

For her talent portion, Weber performed a ballet to the overture from “My Fair Lady.”

Each contestant also had a platform, or cause, that they promoted. Weber’s platform, H.E.A.R.T., is something that is very important to her.

“I wanted a platform that affected teens,” said Weber. “The arts are something I love. I want to spread it all across Ohio.”

Weber said she gets to visit local pageants across the state. To prepare for the upcoming pageant in August, she said she will be clean up her routine a little and get new evening gowns.

“I’m so excited,” she said. “It’s an amazing opportunity.”

Weber also said that she couldn’t have made it this far without the support of her team: Yvonne DeKay Sinnott, Robert Stevens and Greg Davis.

The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant with be held Aug. 24 through 28 in Orlando.
