WILLOW WOOD — Three Symmes Valley Lady Viking basketball players attended the University of Tennessee Elite Positioning camp that was held June 18-20.

The girls had the chance to play with some of the nation’s best and learn from one of the best women’s basketball coach in the nation.

Ada Humphrey, Malenna Davis and Kayla Hayes attended this year’s Elite Positioning Camp at the University of Tennessee.

The camp included close to three hundred players from all over the country for players who want to work on their skills as point guards, wing guards and post players.

“I just love this camp. The instruction is the best I have ever been around for a basketball camp,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Lisa Bryant.

“This is my third trip for this camp and I came away just as impressed as ever. This camp covers so much in so little time and the coaches who work this camp are amazing.

“Not only are the defensive and offensive instruction impressive, so is the conditioning part of this camp. I am very proud or my girls for working hard at this camp as well as learning some responsibility while they were there.”

The camp started promptly at 6 p.m. on Friday which included stations for the post player and for both wing and point guards.

The camp started up again on Saturday morning at 8:15 with defensive and offensive lectures from Coach Pat Summitt, her staff and all of her Tennessee Lady Vols who also helped with the camp.

Conditioning was a big part of Saturday as well as games that were played in the evening sessions.

The camp ended Sunday at noon with all-star games and awards given out. The camp also gave tours of the Lady Vol facilities, autograph sessions, and a question and answer session with the Lady Vol basketball players.

“Hopefully, Ada, Malenna, and Kayla will take home with them what they learned at this camp and apply it to the upcoming basketball season,” said Bryant.

“Although this is my third trip to this camp, it never gets old to meet and talk with one of the best college coaches in the country, Pat Summitt.”
