A Coal Grove man will go to prison and will have to reimburse his former employer more than $150,000 for the metal products he stole from his work site.

Steve Wilcox, 53, of 107 Oakwood Drive, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to one count of aggravated theft.

Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham Anderson said Wilcox took bronze tubing, propellers and other metal from McGinnis, Inc., between Nov. 26, 2009 and Jan. 4 of this year, sold the items as scrap metal and pocketed the money.

“He has access because he worked there 30 years,” Anderson said.

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Wilcox to four years in prison and ordered his to pay $152,638.57 in restitution.

“I’m sorry for what I did,” Wilcox told Cooper.

Also Wednesay, Dakota L. Neff, 22, of Wilmington, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary.

Cooper sentenced Neff to five years in prison but allowed him to serve it concurrently with a prison sentence he received for violating his probation.

“I’d like to say I’m sorry,” Neff said.

Steven E. Evans, 41, of 23571 State Route 93, Oak Hill, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to a felony charge of disrupting a public service and misdemeanor charges of domestic violence, resisting arrest and animal cruelty.

Cooper sentenced him to a total of 10 months in prison.
