The Kiwanis Club of East Greenup County, Ky., would like to thank the sponsors and participants of the 33rd annual Run By The River.

It was the best ever.

We are grateful for each of the 251 runners who circled our 5K and 10K courses, and to our 25 sponsors.

At the end of the day we raised more money for Kiwanis civic projects than ever and that will enable our club to continue scholarships to Key Club seniors, food baskets at Thanksgiving, Shop With A Cop, the Terrific Kids program at Wurtland Elementary, the Builder’s Club at Russell Middle School and other needs as they arise.

The following businesses and individuals made this event possible: Stephen and Kim Wales Limerinos, Fannin Automotive Family, Tres Hermanos Nunez, LLC, Super Quik, First and Peoples Bank and Trust, Great Lakes Minerals, McKinney Tire Warehouse, Kentucky Farmers Bank, AAA, Charles M. Rhodes, MD (Ashland-Bellefonte Cardiology), White Eagle Antiques, Doty’s Shell Mart, James T. Brom, O.D., General Heating and Air Conditioning, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Hensley and Dawson, Attorneys at Law, Home Federal Savings and Loan, Tri-State Lawn Care and Construction, Bob Clyse Chevrolet-Buick-GMC, Carman Funeral Home, Giovanni’s Pizza, Health Flex Fitness, State Representative Tonya Pullin, Stultz Pharmacy and PNC Bank.

Donations and assistance from the Russell and Worthington Police Departments, EMTAS, the Worthington Volunteer Fire Department, Pennington’s Foodfair, CVS Pharmacy, Walmart, Toro Loco, and Jordan Ice, made the races a success.

Next year’s Run By The River is set for Saturday, June 11, 2011, and will feature changes in age categories at both ends of the scale.

Next year trophies will be offered to runners 9 and under and 10-14. At the senior level an 80 plus category has been added and special awards offered.
