Freeda Allene Comer, 77, of Ironton passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ashland, Ky., native was born Sept. 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Horn Brewer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Lee Comer, who passed away in 1991.
Mrs. Comer was a homemaker and a former employee of the Shake Shoppe in Ironton. She attended Ashland City Schools and formerly attended Sugar Creek Church.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Salyers, Margaret Porter and Hilda Brewer; and six brothers, Melvin (Sammy) Brewer, Robert Brewer, Paul Chandler, Gartrell Chandler, Johnson Brewer and Donald Brewer.
Freeda is survived by her son Mel Lee Comer of Ironton; three grandchildren, Mark Lee Comer of Huntington, W. Va., Tammy Sue Hamilton of Paintsville, Ky. and Robert Allen Comer of Huntington; two great grandchildren; brothers, Charlie Brewer of Catlettsburg, Ky. and Fred (June)  Brewer of Ashland; a sister, Helen Yoder of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 12 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Billy Markins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
