Frank Junior Matney, 63, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born June 28, 1947 the son of Elsie Stapleton Matney of Ironton and the late Frank James Matney.
He attended Hecla Schools and was of the Baptist faith.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Lisa Matney; and a great nephew; Peyton Hunter Gillespie.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Castle Matney whom he married April 14, 1973; daughter and son in law, Tina and Jimmy Aldridge of Kitts Hill; daughter and son in law, Tonya and Danny Penix of Franklin Furnace; two granddaughters, Jessi and Chelsea Aldridge; brother and sister in law, Tom and Ruth Matney of Ironton; brother and sister in law, Tim and Vickie Matney of Ironton; sister and brother in law, Kay and Rick Greene of Springfield; and sister, Janet Gillespie of South Vienna.
Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery.
