IPD officer lived up to motto ‘to protect and serve’

Something nice happened to me the other day and I just wanted other people to know about it.

I was out pulling weeds last Friday. It was one of those really hot days. I wanted to get out in the yard early so I could finish up early.

I finished up about 10:30 a.m. and went up onto my porch. As I was wiping the sweat off of my face, a police car pulled up in front of my house.

I didn’t know why he had pulled up.

He just stopped to ask if I was all right. I said I was, that I was just hot from pulling weeds.

I thanked him and he went on his way.

I don’t know what his name was. I guess he was just driving by and thought to himself that he should check on the older people.

It might not mean something to everyone, but it meant something to me.

To the Ironton Police Department and the office that stopped, thank you for showing an interest in the people.
