The familiar, old-fashioned hamburger restaurant that many have come to love has recently had a facelift at its Ironton location.

The more than 30-year-old Wendy’s on North Fourth Street started remodeling and updating in April. They finished up at the beginning of June and celebrated this week with a grand re-opening. They kicked off the fun on Wednesday and will continue through today.

“We wanted to give Ironton a facelift,” said Owner Scott Schmidt. Schmidt owns 14 Wendy’s in Ohio and West Virginia.

The store has a new stucco faade with stone columns and a patio beneath a shade tree. There is also a new full-color electronic reader board outside to display specials and new products.

The inside has been redone as well. The seating area has been expanded to fit more tables. The carpet and tile flooring is new. There are also flat-screen TVs on the walls and the beverages are now self-serve.

“I’m excited for the community,” said Jeannie Murphy, general manager.

The festivities include prize give-a-ways every hour, cake and free value-sized Frostys or coffee and a visit from Wendy. There were grand prize drawings for $50 Wendy’s gift cards also. There will be a grand prize drawing at 5 p.m. Friday.

“It was just time for the store to be updated and upgraded,” said Stacie Staker, Director of Marketing for the franchise.

According to Schmidt, the renovations have been in the works for about a year and a half.

“This is the first Wendy’s to have this look,” he said.
