Eileen M. McGlone, 79, of South Point, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. The Wayne County, W. Va., native was born Sept. 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Everett and Spicie Adkins Martin. She is survived by her husband, William McGlone, whom she married Jan. 5, 1995.
Mrs. McGlone was a 1949 graduate of Ironton High School. She was an executive administrative assistant for Lawrence County General Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ironton, a member of the Central Committee Women for the Republican Party and enjoyed ballroom dancing.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Laramar Karnap; a brother, Bernie Martin; and three sisters, Marie O’Dell, Thelma Maynard and Hazel Moritz.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Fred Karnap of Statesville, N.C., Paul and Jacki Karnap of Galena and Kyle and Amy McGlone of Middletown; a daughter, Kathy Karnap of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Pam Karnap of Statesville; granddaughter and her husband, Kristin Walsh MD and Tom Walsh MD of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandson, Ethan Waldo of Middletown; and a brother, Walter Martin of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Dr. Wayne Young officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
