CGMS’s Rigsby wins QB contest

COAL GROVE — Jesse Rigsby, a student at Coal Grove Middle School, won the Darin Slack Quarterback Academy invitation-only competition July 31 in Orlando, FL.

Athletes were chosen from 22 quarterback camps held across the nation. The top 12 from the west and top 12 from the east were invited to the Duel of the Dozens in Orlando.

Rigsby competed in the junior prospect division for grades 7-8. The other two divisions are for grades 9-10 and 11-12.

Quarterbacks were ranked according to distance, accuracy, defense recognition, ball speed, and a game situation drill called the “gauntlet” by Slack and his coaching staff and recruiters.

Rigsby won the junior prospect division as he finished second in distance (47 yards), first in ball speed (48 mph) and first in accuracy, defense recognition and the “gauntlet.”
