A 20-year-old South Point man will serve four years in prison for drug-related charges.

Jessie Devaney, 20, of 202 Park Ave. Apt. 2, South Point, pleaded guilty to one count of complicity to aggravated drug trafficking.

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Devaney to four years in prison and ordered him to pay a $5,000 mandatory fine and have his license suspended for one year.

Devaney’s attorney, Warren Morford, said his client’s drug problems started after he was involved in a motorcycle accident. When the prescribed pain medication did not help, he turned to street drugs, Morford said.

“He was doing what he was doing to support his habit,” Morford said. “He again is only 20 years old and finds himself swimming with the sharks.”
