COAL GROVE — You can take a quick look, but you’re not going to see a whole lot.

The Ohio Valley Conference football preview gave local fans a glimpse of what to expect from league teams Saturday at Coal Grove High School. Coaches generally play starters early and then begin to filter in their reserve players.

The six league teams play in a two-quarter scrimmage that matches teams who will play in their final regular season game.

Rock Hill blanked Fairland 7-0 in the first game and South Point posted its own shutout with a 13-0 win over River Valley in the second contest. In the third and final game of the night, host Coal Grove topped Chesapeake 6-0 in a game called at the start of the second quarter due to lightening.

Next week teams are allowed to host a Jamboree game that is a scrimmage that allows schools to charge an admission.

On Friday, Coal Grove hosts Ironton and Chesapeake visits Green. On Saturday, Rock Hill travels to Symmes Valley.

The regular season kicks off Friday, Aug. 27, in Ohio and a week earlier in Kentucky.
