Kelley’s Bridge Band performs at Rotary Fountain

The weather cooled markedly Tuesday evening, a nice breeze blew down Third Street and, under a clear blue sky, a group of townsfolk gathered to enjoy the refurbished fountain area now called Rotary Park and listen to the Kelley’s Bridge Band play Irish music — everything from lively jigs, to “Danny Boy.”

The audience sang along when the group performed, “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling’ and clapped with the livelier tunes.

The crowd not only enjoyed the music but the surroundings. The attractive fountain, the abundance of flowers, the freshly planted trees and shrubbery, and the new pergola made a perfect stage for performing.

“This is better than the big cities have!” enthused a Kitts Hill couple who had driven in just to listen to the music. “I can’t believe these flowers. I hope they do this every week!” commented another.

Attending Rotary member, Rich Mountain, said he was pleased with the turnout and future performances under the pergola are being considered.
