COAL GROVE — Three key performances meant three straight wins.

The trio of Marissa Stevens, Bailey Harrison and Haley Johnson combined to help lead the Coal Grove Lady Hornets to a volleyball sweep of the Boyd County (Ky.) Lady Lions in the season opener Monday, 25-10, 25-12 and 25-11.

Stevens scored 12 points and Harrison had 11 points for the Lady Hornets. Johnson topped the team with eight kills.

The junior varsity won in two sets.

Coal Grove hosts Portsmouth at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and travels to Rock Hill at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference match.
