Referee classes offered

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials and The Ohio High School Athletic Association will conduct a basketball officiating class beginning Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. in the Chesapeake Middle School.

All classroom sessions will be held on Saturdays with live scrimmages held during the week.

The classroom portion will consist of rules and mechanics, videos and lectures from veteran officials. With on court experience in the form of live scrimmages at various schools.

Fee is $125 payable at the first class and includes all fees and state testing. Once completed participants will be a licensed official in the state of Ohio.

River Cities class

HUNTINGTON, WV — The River Cities Basketball Officials Association will conduct a training class for persons interested in becoming registered high school and middle school officials.

The class will be on Monday and Wednesday for seven weeks from 4-6 p.m. at Chesapeake High School. Fee is $85 plus the state registration fees. Ohio fee is $55 and West Virginia $37. All fees must be paid within the first two class sessions.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and no longer enrolled in high school. West Virginia certification requires proof of physical examination.

Special provisions for high school students are available.
