Health department is here to serve the public

I would like to take this time to respond to The Tribune’s editorial in the Sept. 1 edition.

Our food inspector does bi-annual food inspections throughout the year and all inspections are kept on file at the health department and are accessible for public view upon request.

There is a small fee for copies of food inspection reports, but everyone has the right to view these anytime during normal working hours.

The Ironton City Health Department’s mission is to provide the necessary resources to enable our community to be as healthy, safe, and productive as possible.

Along with the food services provided we offer childhood immunizations, adult immunizations, TB skin tests, pregnancy tests, physicals (employment and sports), and free blood pressure checks.

Environmental issues, such as complaints of high grass, garbage, mosquitoes, and rodents within the city limits are also handled by the City Health Department.

Our office also handles the filing of all births and deaths that occur in Lawrence County and the issuing of birth and death certificates.

The Ironton City Health Department is located at 2120 S. Eighth Street and our hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Should you or anyone else have questions you may reach me at 740-532-2172 or e-mail me at laura.brown@odh.ohio.gov.

We here at the Ironton City Health Department are here to serve the citizens of Ironton.
