The Lady Tigers continued to improve as they swept the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 25-20, 25-20 and 25-17.

“Haley Snyder came off the bench to give us seven points. I believe that we have a good group of role players and everyone is beginning to get in sync together,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell.

“Our serves are getting better and better with each game.”

Shannon Walker led all servers with 10 points and Saige Fields scored 7. Kaitlyn Hackworth had 4 points and a game-high 6 digs.

“(Hackworth) was all over the court tonight. She and Shannon did a great job from keeping the ball from hitting the floor,” said Campbell.

Nikki Elswick and Colleen Walker had 6 points each with Elswick racking up 15 kills and Walker had 14 setting assists. Andi Kratzenberg added 9 assists.

“Colleen and Andi did a great job getting Elswick and Saige their kills,” said Campbell. “I was very pleased with our effort tonight. I hope that our effort and willingness to get better continues.”

In the Ironton Invitational last Saturday, Ironton beat Ashland 25-22, 22-25 and 25-16. Ashland came into the match 14-3.

Fields had 13 points, Hackworth 9, Elswick 8, and Snyder and Colleen Walker 4 each

The Lady Tigers lost to River Valley 19-25, 14-25 as Sarah Linn had 8 points. Fields added 5 and Hackworth and Colleen Walker 3 each.
