IRONTON — James R. Nutter, 76, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at a local healthcare facility. He was born on July 9, 1934 in Carbondale, W.Va., the son of the late Lonnie and Mamie Johnson Nutter. James was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. He graduated from Piedmont Bible College and was the previous Pastor and current member of Zoar Baptist Church. James also served as a Missionary in Africa for fifteen years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers: Kenneth Nutter, Eddie Nutter, Bill Nutter, John Nutter, Jack Nutter, and J.B. Nutter.
James is survived by his loving wife, Bertha Proctor Nutter of Ironton, whom he married on Sept. 9, 1955; three sons: Timothy Nutter of Atlanta, Georgia, James David (Carolyn) Nutter of Cincinnati, and Steve (Tammy) Nutter of Coal Grove; two daughters: Kenna Nutter of Scott Depot, W.Va., and Jana (Rodney) Dunn of Parker City, Ind.; two sisters: Mary (Pete) Walker of Evans, W.Va., and Inez Kirk of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Fred (Mary) Nutter of Evans, W.Va., and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, Ironton, with Pastor Jim Beals officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service on Saturday.
