SOUTH POINT — Lucasville Valley came into the game averaging nearly 44 points per game, and the Indians used a balanced offensive attack to stay around that average in a 48-14 win over the South Point Pointers Friday.

“I thought we played well early on, but Lucasville Valley is a good team and has a lot of athletes, and they were able to exploit that at times,” South Point head coach Doug Shilot said.

After trading punts, Valley got its first score of the night when Alex Holcomb scored from 38 yards out. The extra-point was no good, and the score at the end of the first quarter was 6-0 in favor of the Indians.

On the first play of their next possession, South Point fumbled and Valley took over at the Pointers 16-yard line. Two plays later, Yates threw his third touchdown pass of the quarter when he found Dwyer from 7 yards out and it was 35-0 at the half.

South Point (1-4) took the opening possession of the second half down to the Valley 34-yard line before turning it over on downs. Three plays later, Yates found Hartley for the second time, this one from 10 yards out.
