Flyers blank Mohawks

McDERMOTT — The St. Joseph Flyers are back on the right side.

The Flyers snapped a three-game non-winning streak with a 3-0 shutout of the Northwest Mohawks Monday.

“We finally played up to our abilities tonight,” said Flyers’ coach Dan Blair. “Our passing game stepped up tonight as all the goals were assisted goals.”

Tanner Riley scored two goals and Payton Blair added another to lead the Flyers. On the assist end, Eli Lewis handed out two assists while Blair registered the third.

Nick Roach, Levi Hopkins and Tanner Carte all lays a strong game in midfield.

“As the score showed, our defenders and goalkeeper were up to the challenge,” said coach Blair. “Ike Palmer, T.J. Young, Aaron Haas, and Cody Blackburn turned in a shutout and (goalkeeper) Justin Mahlmeister collected 15 saves.”

The Flyers play at Maysville (Ky.) St. Patrick at 11 a.m. Saturday.
