Ironton native earns Outstanding Supervisor of The Year Award

The Public Children Services Association of Ohio (PCSAO) has presented Lori Moore with the “Outstanding Child Protection Supervisor of The Year Award.” Each year the award is presented to one Supervisor in the State of Ohio who has shown leadership and special dedication in the field of child welfare. The award was presented to Moore at the annual PCSAO conference in Columbus, on Oct. 6 by Ohio Job & Family Services Director Doug Lumpkin.

Moore is a licensed social worker with a bachelor’s degree in social work from The University of Rio Grande, and has worked for Muskingum County Children Services for 14 years.

For eight of those years, Moore has served as an Intervention Supervisor. The Intervention Unit’s purpose is to ensure the safety and well-being of children who have been or are at-risk of being abused or neglected.

Primarily, Intervention caseworker goals are to keep families together or reunify families in a safe, nurturing environment for children. Moore was nominated for the award by Muskingum County Children Services Executive Director, David Boyer with a strong letter of support by the staff she supervises. Muskingum County Children Services is extremely proud of Moore and her exemplary service to the families of our community.

Moore is from Ironton and attended Rock Hill High School.

Infant Loss Remembrance Day planned for Friday

Ashland, Ky. – A “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day” is planned for 5 p.m. Friday at Ashland’s Central Park by representatives of the King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) Women’s Services program.

The ceremony will begin near the park’s fountain at the corner of 22nd Street and Lexington Avenue. The event is open to anyone.
