COAL GROVE — Gregory L. Shope, 52, of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born March 24, 1958, the son of Glenn L. and Joyce A. Shope of Ironton, who survives.

Gregory was a graduate of Ironton High School and was employed as a tech for CJT in Coal Grove. He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. He loved playing the guitar, and visiting and playing with his grandchildren. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Miranda and Jerry Spillman of Franklin Furnace; sister and brother-in-law, Glynis and Donnie Fields of Ironton; two brothers, Jeff A. Shope and Brian K. Shope, both of Ironton; and two grandchildren, Dakota Spillman and Aaron Spillman both of Franklin Furnace.
