Ironton, Chesapeake notch victories

Ironton 37, Columbus Hartley 16
IRONTON — The Ironton Fighting Tigers racked up 336 yards on the ground en route to a 37-16 win over the Columbus Bishop Hartley Hawks Friday at Tanks Memorial Stadium.
Tyler Hager ran 13 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns while Brian Warner had 98 yards and a score as Ironton (6-2) snapped a two-game losing streak.
Hartley (6-2) was led by All-Ohio running back Noah Key with 111 yards on 20 carries and a TD. Austin Underwood threw a 10-yard scoring strike to Omar Lane for the other Hawks’ score.
Chesapeake 35, Fairland 12
CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Panthers maintained possession of the purple and green Joe Smith Helmet with a strong running game as they downed the rival Fairland Dragons 35-12 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Chesapeake (3-5, 3-0) rushed 56 times for 304 yards led by Patrick Hintz with 102 yards on 17 carries. Nate Jones had 82 yards on 13 carries and Trey West got 77 yards on 12 attempts. Jones and West scored two touchdowns each.
Fairland (3-5, 2-1) was held to 7 net yards rushing. The Dragons threw for 186 yards as Jon Baise completed 8 of 16 for 88yards and Chad Fisher was 2 of 7 for 98 yards and two interceptions.
Oak Hill 40, Symmes Valley 13
WILLOW WOOD — Westen Hale set an Oak Hill single-game rushing record as the Oaks used a big third quarter to beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 40-13 in a battle for first place in the Southern Ohio Conference Division I race.
Hale rushed 31 times for 327 yards and scored five touchdowns. The Oaks (7-1, 3-0) racked up 353 yards on 44 attempts. Quarterback Jesse Slone was 9 of 16 for 138 yards and an interception.
Symmes Valley (7-1, 2-1) ran for 167 yards with Jacob Patterson running 12 times for 58 yards. He also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.
