ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Ricky Stanzi threw his third touchdown pass to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos early in the fourth quarter and Michael Meyer kicked a 30-yard field goal with 2:53 left, helping No. 15 Iowa hold off Michigan for a 38-28 win Saturday.

The Hawkeyes (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten) led the Wolverines (5-2, 1-2) by three TDs early in the fourth quarter for the second time during the game.

Tate Forcier came in for Denard Robinson and threw a 45-yard pass to Junior Hemingway and his 3-yard run made it 28-21 with 6:55 to play.

Iowa’s Adam Robinson, who scored twice, converted a third-and-8 at the Michigan 40 by breaking a tackle on a 26-yard reception to set up the victory-sealing kick.

Denard Robinson left during the third quarter after he was hit hard on a run, but it wasn’t immediately clear if he stayed on the sideline because he was hurt or simply ineffective for the second straight week.

He was 13 of 18 for 96 yards with an interception — an ill-advised heave into coverage — and a TD. He ran 18 times for 105 yards.

Forcier, who started every game last year, was 17 of 26 for 239 yards with two TDs and two interceptions.

Stanzi completed 17 of 24 passes for 248 yards with three TDs and no turnovers.

Adam Robinson ran for 143 yards and two TDs.

No. 13 Michigan St. 26, Illinois 6

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Kirk Cousins threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to B.J. Cunningham in the third quarter, helping No. 13 Michigan State to its best start in more than four decades with a 26-6 win over Illinois on Saturday.

The Spartans (7-0, 3-0 Big Ten) started slowly a week after beating Michigan, but they outscored the Illini 23-0 in the second half. They are 7-0 for the first time since 1966, when they won their first nine games before famously tying Notre Dame 10-10.

After Michigan State had trouble running the ball the first two quarters, Cousins came out sharp in the third. His touchdown pass over the middle gave the Spartans a 13-6 lead, and Illinois (3-3, 1-2) couldn’t overcome its four turnovers.

Cousins finished 13 of 24 for 201 yards.

Purdue 28, Minnesota 17

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Dan Dierking ran for a career-high 126 yards, quarterback Rob Henry accounted for four touchdowns, and Purdue beat Minnesota 28-17 on Saturday.

Henry passed for 163 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 57 yards and three scores for the Boilermakers (4-2, 2-0 Big Ten). Purdue matched its best conference start since 2004 heading into a showdown at Ohio State next Saturday.

It was Minnesota’s sixth straight loss, adding to the pressure on coach Tim Brewster. Reports circulated before the game that he could be fired if the Golden Gophers (1-6, 0-3) lost on Saturday. A Minnesota spokesman said the school had no comment and said athletic director Joel Maturi would not be available to the media.

Indiana 36, Arkansas St. 34

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Ben Chappell threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns Saturday, rallying Indiana for a 36-34 victory over Arkansas State.

The Hoosiers (4-2) ended a two-game losing streak with their fourth-straight win over a nonconference foe.

Arkansas State (2-5) dropped to 0-5 all-time against Big Ten schools. Quarterback Ryan Aplin was 33 of 44 for 275 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran for two scores and set a school record for completions in a game.

Indiana trailed the entire game until Chappell found Terrance Turner for a nifty 27-yard TD pass late in the third quarter to make it 19-14. Arkansas State came close two or three times but never retook the lead.
