KITTS HILL — Jon P. Collier, 61, of Kitts Hill went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. His life was spent as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family, and a friend to all who knew him. The Ironton native was born on May 12, 1949, the son of the late Paul and Grace Slone-Collier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Ann Collier, who died in 1967, He is survived by his wife, Nancy Molter-Collier, who he married Aug. 12, 1972.
Mr. Collier was a graduate of Rock Hill High School with the class of 1967. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 38 years as a mail carrier. He was a Lawrence Township Trustee for 19 years and was a member of Mamre Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Chris Collier of Kitts Hill and one daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Josh Campbell of Willow Wood and one grandson, Mason Campbell of Willow Wood.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio with Revs. Charles Herrell, Scott Jenkins, and Lenny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Jr. Coffman, Scott Gore, Luke Everhart, Danny McCalvin, Ralph Molter, Jim Pancake, Jim Spears, and Jack Wade. Honorary Pallbearers include Bob Hartwig, B.D. Holschuh, Ken Lawson, Don Mootz, Ed Berry, and Bill Harrison. Jon will be greatly missed by his, family, friends and many loved ones.
