A South Point man has denied several allegations of rape and unlawful sexual conduct.
Michael S. Tipton, 23, of 95 Private Road 1255 pleaded not guilty in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday to six counts of rape and six counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The alleged crimes happened over the course of two years with a female victim who was 14 and 15 years old at the times, Assistant Prosecutor Mack Anderson said.
Judge Cooper sent bond at $50,000 property and $50,000 on his on recognizance. A pretrial hearing has been set for Dec. 1.
In other case: Dean Montroso, 39, of 1453 County Road 1, South Point, admitted a community-controlled sanction violation. Cooper sentenced Montroso to three years in prison.
Jeffrey Lewis, 40, of 515 S. Ninth Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony. In exchange for a guilty plea, Lewis’s charge was amended from an original charge, which was felonious assault. Cooper sentenced Lewis to 10 months in prison.
Robert Erwin, 31, of 279 Township Road 1034, South Point, admitted he violated the terms of his community-controlled sanctions by testing positive drugs. Erwin also pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment of aggravated drug possession. Cooper sentenced Erwin to a total of 28 months in prison for the CCS violation and charge. Erwin’s license will be suspended for six months and he was ordered to pay court costs.
