Community can help in critical fight

Ironton teenager Bethany Bibb is in the fight of her life, and essentially it is a fight for her life.

Now it’s time for the entire Tri-State to help fight with Bethany.

The 16-year-old has battled cystic fibrosis since she was just a young girl. Although there have been ups and downs along the way, the teenager has stayed strong.

Friends and family say her courage and will is an inspiration to everyone who knows her.

But things have gotten worse.

The young girl is in need of a double lung transplant. That won’t come easy and it certainly won’t come cheap.

Through the efforts of Bethany’s Buddies, a fundraising group through The Children’s Organ Transplant Association, volunteers are trying to raise money and raise awareness about this debilitating disease.

We urge the entire community to open their hearts — and their pocketbooks — to help this young girl beat the odds.

Donations can be made at any PNC Bank branch location using account number 6007679981, or mailed to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403, with checks or money orders made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Bethany B.” written on the memo line of the check. Credit card donations are also accepted online at www.COTAforBethanyB.com.

She is not asking for much, only the chance to have a quality life and allow her personality to shine.

We all have the ability to help make this dream become a reality. No one should have to fight this battle alone.
