Franklin Delano Cooper

Franklin Delano Cooper, 71, of Ironton, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his residence. He was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Cabin Creek, W.Va., the son of the late Forrest and Arilda Edens Cooper.

Frank was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a graduate of Ironton City Schools and a member of the American Legion, VFW, Amvets, Moose and the Eagles and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former millwright for the Dayton Malleable Iron Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. Lake Cooper; and two sisters, Shirley Powell and Jewell Jones.

He is survived by his fiancée, Bonnie Smith of Ironton;

two sons, Thomas Abner and Franklin W. Cooper and his wife, Loretta; three daughters, Carol Meadows and her husband, David, Rebecca Cumpston and her husband, Derrick, and Rhonda Cooper, all of Ironton; a brother, Walter Cooper and his wife, Lucy;

seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.
