PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redmen might have been at point-blank range, but they were shooting blanks.

The Redmen made just 7 of 19 shots inside the paint and shot a mere 28.5 percent from the field in a 50-28 loss to the unbeaten Oak Hill Oaks Tuesday.

“We were getting what we wanted, but we just didn’t make the shots,” said Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds.

The Redmen (3-3) managed to score just four points in each the first and second quarters as they fell behind 23-8 at the half.

Rock Hill cut the deficit to 10 points midway through the third quarter and had the ball, but the Oaks managed to pull away to a 35-20 lead at the end of the quarter.

“We missed a couple easy buckets and a couple free throws and it was back to 20,” said Wilds.

The Redmen were 6 of 14 from the foul line.

Darby led Rock Hill with 10 points including all eight of their points in the fourth quarter.

Rock Hill’s home game against Wellston has been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday.
