Fairland’s effort wasn’t enough as the Dragons lost 77-68 to the Meigs Marauders Wednesday.

“We dug ourselves a hole and we couldn’t dig out of it,” said Fairland coach Nathan Speed. “We fought all the way. I’m please with our effort. We’d get close but we could never get over the hump.”

Meigs (6-4) took a 14-10 lead after the first quarter and stretched the margin to 35-25 at the break despite Chad Fisher scoring 12 of Fairland’s 15 points.

Jonathan Holbrook scored eight points in the third quarter but Meigs continued to pull away to a 60-43.

Fairland (3-4) outscored the Marauders 25-17 in the fourth quarter, but Meigs was able to kept the lead by making 9 of 14 from the foul line.

Fisher led all scorers with 24 points including four 3-pointers. Evan Salyer scored 13 and Holbrook 12.

The Marauders had four players in double figures. Cameron Bolin scored 21, Seth Wells 20, Dillon Boyer 16 and Colton Stewart 11.
