Herbert Hoover Castle

JESUP, Ga. — Herbert Hoover Castle, 82, of Jesup, formerly of Coal Grove, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at his home. He was the son of the late Ralph and Goldie Newcomb Castle. He was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Pike County, Ky. He was of the Baptist faith. Herbert was a retired veteran of the military with 21 years of service. He served in World War II.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Castle; one son, Frank Anthony Castle; a sister, Nora Helen Castle Waddle; three brothers, Charles Castle of California, William O. Castle of Florida and James Castle of California.

He is survived by a daughter, Gail Lynn Dillon of Lake Hamilton, Fla.; sons, Ralph Thomas Castle of Virginia, Herbert Castle II and Herbert H. Castle III, both of Georgia, and Herbert Patrick Castle of Nebraska; two stepdaughters, Emma Gail Koster and Mary Crosier, both of Georgia; stepson, James Potter of Kentucky; two sisters, Margaret Christian of Minneola, Fla., and Tina Salyers of South Point; a brother, Walter Castle of Coal Grove; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rhinehart & Sons Funeral Home in Jesup with the Rev. Phillip Dillon. Burial with full military rites will be at Jesup Cemetery.
