CHESAPEAKE — The South Point Pointers picked the wrong time to lose their shooting touch.

The Pointers scored just four points in the fourth quarter and lost 48-44 to the Eastern Brown Warriors Saturday in the second annual Beasts of the Southeast basketball classic.

“We just wore out. We’re limited to who can play and we played on Friday,” said Pointers’ coach Chris Barnes. “When we make shots, we’re okay. We’re not going to get second and third shots. We’ll only go as far as our offense takes us.”

Brandon Barnes scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half as South Point took a 28-22 lead at the break.

Kyle Winkler scored eight points in the third quarter as South Point went up 40-33.

But then came the fourth quarter as Blake Barnes scored all four of South Point’s total.

“If you told me all we have to do is score nine points in the fourth quarter and we’d win, I’d take it,” said coach Barnes.

Winkler finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Blake Barnes had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Pointers (4-6).

Jesse Whitaker had 16 points and Chase Lawson 15 for Eastern Brown (5-4).
