FRANKLIN FURNACE – Arlie Joe Castle, 63 of Franklin Furnace, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born July 10, 1947, in Ashland, Ky. to Arlie and Estelene (Donaldson) Castle. Arlie was a welder for Northern Electric Company in Galion and during the 1990’s owned and operated C & D Bait and Tackle shop in Franklin Furnace. A life member of DAV, he was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Arlie was of the Apostolic faith and loved hunting, fishing, and most especially playing bingo.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of Franklin Furnace; one son, Charles Castle, of Portsmouth; one daughter, Suzan Castle (fiancé Tim Rawlins) of Franklin Furnace; three brothers, Chester (Mae) Castle, of Franklin Furnace, Lester (Judy) Castle of Galion, and Alfred (Alveda) Castle of Galion; one sister, Sharon Schaffiranek of Galion; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Amber, Zachery, Ashley, Braden, Alyson, Aaron; two great-grandchildren, Haylie, and Tristan. He was preceded in death by one son, Arlie, in 1989; two brothers, Raymond Castle and Ralph Castle; and two sisters, Myrtle Schwab and Phyllis Williams.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Rick Mollett officiating. Interment will be in Clapboard Cemetery in Green Township.
