KITTS HILL — Harold Burd, 98, of Kitts Hill, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 19, 1912, the son of the late Raymond and Anna Harth Burd. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn B. Littlejohn Lewis Burd, who died Feb. 3, 1998.

Mr. Burd was a 1931 graduate of Waterloo High School and a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was a self employed farmer and a member of the Linville Church of Christ. He lived all his life in Lawrence County.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded by two brothers, Oliver Burd and Darwin Burd.

He is survived by a stepson, Donald Lewis of Pedro; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Robertson of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Dorathy Wiseman of Ironton; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Terry Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Crown City Cemetery with military graveside rites VFW Post 6878.
