SOUTH POINT — Three vehicles were damaged in a rockslide in South Point Tuesday evening. Officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation in Ironton say the cars were damaged when they struck a rock in the eastbound lane of U.S. 52 in South Point between the 18 and 19 mile markers.
The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Bill Patrick, ODOT transportation manager, said after a search of the area, the rock could not be found. It is possible that the vehicles knocked the rock off the roadway, he said. He added that officials are going back out to look for the rock today. All three cars were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
