Accident victim’s condition improves
The condition of a Hanging Rock woman had been upgraded to good following a car accident last week.
A 2001 Nissan, driven by Jaimi Taylor, 35, of 330 Scioto Ave., Hanging Rock, crashed into the viaduct on North Second Street and landed on the Little League field in the north end of Ironton.
“She lost control and went over the right side of the roadway,” Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey.
The accident occurred at 6:21 p.m. Feb. 3. Taylor was the only person in the car. The Ironton Fire Department had to remove her from the vehicle by mechanical means. She was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital by helicopter, where she remains.

GOPs to meet on Cade appointment
The Republican Central Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 to vote on the appointment of Doug Cade to the office of county engineer. Cade was appointed on a temporary basis in January to replace retiring engineer David Lynd.
The meeting is to make that appointment permanent. It will be in a Lawrence County Courtroom at the courthouse. This spring the central committee will meet again to appoint a Republican to fill the remaining 21 months left on the term of Lawrence County Commissioner Jason Stephens.
Stephens was elected to the office of county auditor in the November general election.
