Raiders pull away late to beat Hornets

COAL GROVE — For three quarters, the Coal Grove Hornets controlled the pace of the game.
But the River Valley Raiders were able to turn up the speed of the game in the fourth quarter and come away with a 43-35 Ohio Valley Conference win Friday.
Each team scored just seven points each in the first and second quarters to make it 14-14 at the half.
The Raiders managed to take a 25-21 lead after the third quarter and then picked up the pace in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Hornets 18-14.
River Valley (8-10, 4-5) was led by Kyle Bryant with 11 points and Dominique Peck had 10.
The Raiders were just 7 of 22 from the foul line. Coal Grove went 7 of 13 at the line.
Rye Goodwin scored nine points and Devin Monnier eight for the Hornets.
Coal Grove falls to 2-15 and 1-6 in the league.
