SCIOTOVILLE — Despite being 6-foot-8, Ryan Stanley usually plays in the shadows of teammate Luke Taylor.

But not this time.

Stanley was in the spotlight Saturday as he scored a career-high 18 points to help the Symmes Valley Vikings rout the Sciotoville East Tartans 79-48 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We got off to a slow start. I think we were trying too hard. But we got help from Stanley and (Corey) Brown in the first half. Stanley had his best offensive game,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller.

Stanley had six rebounds and three blocked shots to go with his point total. Taylor led the Vikings with 23 points, 20 rebounds and six assists while Tyler Wilson added 10 points.

Josh Craft and D.J. Miller six assists each with Miller coming up with five steals and Jacob Patterson three blocked shots.

Stanley — who made 8 of 10 field goal attempts — scored eight points and Taylor six in the first quarter as the Vikings took an 18-12 lead.

Brown scored all seven of his points in the second quarter as the Vikings went in front 42-30.

Taylor came back with eight points in the third quarter as Symmes Valley opened up a 58-40 cushion.

The win was the 10th straight for the Vikings and it was their 15th of the season, tying the school record for most wins in a single season.

While the Vikings are now 15-3 overall and 10-2 in the SOC, Fuller said the team is more concerned about winning the league than setting any records.

“The kids still have their nose to the grindstone. They know they still have more work ahead of them. Winning the league is their top priority,” said Fuller.

The Vikings will try to keep pace with Green when they host Western Friday and Eastern on Saturday in league games.
